What is a secured note?


Secured notes are backed by collateral, providing the lender increased assurance of return on the loan. If a borrower defaults on a secured note, the assets pledged as collateral can be sold to repay the note. These are first lien debts and refers to a type of secured debt that holds the highest priority in the repayment hierarchy in the event of a borrower default.
